A triathlon is a multi-sport endurance event consisting of swimming, cycling and running in immediate succession over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall course completion time, including timed 'transitions' between the individual swim, bike, and run components.
These make up the most significant number of sporting events that use the venue, there being up to twenty days of events each year. Hundreds of people take part and they are very well supported by enthusiastic fans. There have been additional events of duathlons and biathlons added in both the spring and autumn when water temperatures are too low for the swim discipline to take place.
Dorney is a superb venue for this long distance triathlon - the course is fast and flat and very accurate in its timings.
PLEASE NOTE: Cycle race training is not permitted anywhere on site.
