DORNEY BOAT CLUB

Dorney Boat Club is run by the operating charity of the Eton College Rowing Centre, Dorney Lake. It is accredited with Sport England's 'Clubmark', a kite-mark for 'safe, effective and child-friendly' clubs. The President is Sir Matthew Pinsent, four-time Olympic Gold Medallist.

Here are the other facts about the Club:

  • Membership is open to juniors (under-18's)
  • Many join as a result of rowing sessions with their school as part of our Junior Aquatics Initiative but individual juniors are very welcome
  • Children/young people do not have to attend all sessions
  • New beginners are welcome on the first Wednesday and Sunday of each month but are asked to please let us know they are coming
  • Our young members need to bring a change of clothing in case they get wet
  • Our Head Coach is Terry Hunter, an Amateur Rowing Association (ARA) Gold Level Coach (Level 5 Equivalent)
  • He is assisted by parents who are qualified coaches
  • All coaches are CRB-checked to enhanced level
  • Parents are encouraged to join in the Sunday rota of support tasks, especially the sale of teas and coffees for fund-raising
  • The Club has a notice board just off the Reception end of the first floor balcony, which shows important information and is the main method of communication with members

Dorney Boat Club - SESSION TIMES

  • Wednesdays from 6.00 to 8.00 p.m.
  • Sundays from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m.
  • An advanced group also trains on Saturdays from 8.00 to 10.00 a.m.

Dorney Boat Club - MEMBERSHIP CHARGES

  • An annual subscription is £140.00
  • A single session is £6.00
  • If attendance is likely to be 25 or more sessions in a year, then the annual subscription is cheaper
  • Another option is a £17.50 monthly membership, payable in advance
